Kenya Launches Health Insurance Scheme Improving the Service Delivery

Kenya’s Ministry of Health recently announced the launch of a new health insurance scheme named the Social Health Insurance Fund that will promote equity, fairness, and improved service delivery in healthcare sectors. The critical healthcare services such as chemotherapy, dialysis, dental care, and surgery can become affordable and easily accessible to citizens without any financial burden with the help of this new scheme. More than 2 million Kenyans enrolled in this scheme and it is activated in both public and private hospitals where the registered citizens will receive quality services, consultations, diagnosis, and treatments at affordable cost.

Dental Flap Surgery Market Size

According to Precedence Research’s Report, the global dental flap surgery market size was USD 5.58 billion in 2023 and is predicted to grow around USD 11.22 billion by 2033, with a remarkable growth to USD 5.98 billion in 2024 expanding at a CAGR of 7.24% from 2024 to 2033.

Flap Surgery involves dental bone examination and it is ideal for strengthening teeth. The advantages of flap surgery include reduced bleeding gums, improved chewing ability, and improved biting. In countries with better socioeconomic conditions, dental health is better in all age groups. Approximately, 3.9 million people including 24 years and older received dental care in 2023. About 3,941,573 people including 2,113,651 women and 1,827,922 men received dental care in 2023. This proportion is slightly increased than in 2022 where women were higher than men in taking dental care in 2023. People prefer to visit public dental care or private healthcare providers depending on their choices and circumstances.

In the U.S., the dental flap surgery market size is calculated at USD 1.63 billion in 2023 and is expected to hit around USD 3.32 billion by 2033, with a remarkable growth to USD 1.77 billion in 2024 estimated to grow at a CAGR of 7.37% from 2024 to 2033.

According to the National Center for Health Statistics by the National Health Interview Survey Early Release Program in 2023, about 65.5% of people have taken dental exams including 18 years of adults and older in the United States. The National Health Service, a publicly funded healthcare system in England stated that about 34 million dental treatment courses were delivered in England in 2023-2024 which was 4.3% more than in 2022-2023. About 18 million adult patients were observed up to the end of March 2024 for almost 24 months.

4. HRSA Dentistry/ Oral Health Grants The Health Resources and Services Administration Funds is a grant program that supports oral health initiatives including dental mobile clinics. E.g. Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Part F Community Based Dental Partnership Program to provide funding for HIV/AIDS patients to improve their oral/dental health.
