In India, about 60-65% of the general population is affected by dental caries, and dental diseases are the most significant health burden. According to the Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry, 5-10% of public spending is utilized for dental care in developed countries. Data from a cross-sectional survey in 2024 on the utilization of dental services among the aged population by the Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry reveals the proportion of elders affected by several diseases and utilized dental services. There were 45.1%of endocrine, 44.4% of circulatory problems, and 34.4% of musculoskeletal disorders in people who had suffered and used the services. As per several systematic reviews, the prevalence rates of dental diseases include 54.16% of dental caries, 49.6% of early childhood caries, and 51%of periodontal diseases, respectively.
