Smile Big Richland to Expand Pediatric Dental Care

Richland Public Health’s new program, Smile Big Richland, is set to increase dental health awareness among children in the community. The program aims to provide free dental health supplies to children to ensure that good oral hygiene starts early. Smile Big Richland plans to provide dental health backpacks to 0-18-year-old children with the support of the Richland County Foundation and other national partners.

Pediatric Dental Market Size

As highlighted in a recent Precedence Research report, the global pediatric dental market size was valued at USD 12.77 billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach around USD 48.07 billion by 2033, growing at a CAGR of 14.17% during the forecast period from 2024 to 2033. 

With the growing prevalence of tooth caries among children, there is a great need to spread awareness regarding dental health. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is estimated that 2 billion people worldwide have caries of permanent teeth, while 514 million children have caries of primary teeth. Oro-dental trauma results from injury to the mouth, teeth, and oral cavity. Latest estimates show that 1 billion people are affected, with a prevalence of 20% for children aged up to 12 years.

Healthy Smiles, Healthy Children (HSHC) $20,000 for 1 year Organizing community-based early childhood Dental Health Homes for children who lack dental care, as families cannot afford it.

U.S. Pediatric Dental Market Size

The U.S. pediatric dental market size was estimated at USD 3.58 billion in 2023 and is predicted to be worth around USD 13.54 billion by 2033, at a CAGR of 14.22% from 2024 to 2033.

According to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), the expansion of dental insurance plans enabled early treatment for children from impoverished families. About 9 in 10 children in the U.S. currently have dental insurance, allowing them to receive preventive dental health services during hospital visits.
