The noticeable factor is that its key partners are oral health experts like Jan Swasthya Sewa Sansthan, Queen Mary University of London, and University College London. The initiative aims to advance oral health research and enhance oral health education in India, which is possible by collaborating with local and international institutions. Apart from this, the initiative aims to reduce oral health inequalities and spread awareness about the benefits of oral health by developing evidence-based interventions that can be integrated into public health policies.

Oral Care Market Size

As per the detailed report by Precedence Research, the global oral care market size was valued at USD 44.57 billion in 2023 and is projected to be valued at around USD 76.14 billion by 2033, expanding at a notable CAGR of 5.5% from 2024 to 2033.

The rapid economic growth in India, which increases healthcare expenditure, and the rising population are major factors driving the demand for oral care products. The Public Health Foundation of India has received a prestigious grant from the National Institute for Health and Care Research. This grant will penable the team to improve health outcomes and restructure health systems to address the burden of oral health. There are many reasons for oral diagnosis, and the most prevalent ones are periodontal disease, dental caries (tooth decay), tooth loss, and cancers of the lips and oral cavity. They cause serious health and economic burdens, taking away the joy of life.

Project CORE Tackles Oral Health Inequities in India

The president of PHFI, Prof. Sanjay Zodpey, stated that Project CORE is an important initiative launched to address oral health inequities across India. He also mentioned that they have achieved a significant milestone through the initiative. He also mentioned the initiative and its mission aim to improve oral health outcomes. The project aims to make oral health more affordable and accessible for marginalized populations. Government schemes play a crucial role by providing policy reforms to integrate oral health services into broader health systems. Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, and Rajasthan have community-focused projects that conduct surveys to analyze the patterns, mechanisms, and impacts of oral health inequalities in specific areas.

The primary causes of oral health issues are linked to nutrition. Gum disease can trigger inflammation, which may lead to problems for organs such as the heart, blood vessels, and the brain. Although there are many schemes and initiatives for spreading awareness of oral health, many people are deprived of needed care. The CORE initiative will play a significant part in shedding light on inequity gaps in oral health services and guiding people about the availability of oral health services in national programs for universal health coverage. Currently, India has a huge risk of oral diseases, with over 70% of the population affected by many diseases.
